- Clean off the counters – put the dishes away, empty the sink of sponges and soap, and make sure every horizontal surface is clutter free.
- Wax or use throw rugs to hide small flaws in the floors.
- Fold everything in the linen closet. It’s an important space and you want it to look as big as possible.
- Put away coats, shoes, umbrellas. Be sure they are tucked away neatly a closet.
- Check that all the light bulbs are working and replace any that don’t. Buyers may think that it’s an electrical problem instead of a simple fix and brighter homes sell faster.
- Remove anything you don’t want people to see. Remember, a buyer may be more conservative than you and will be looking through the cabinets and closets. Don’t leave out anything that would embarrass you or that someone wouldn’t want to see.
- Clean the toilets. People will use them.
