Make Your House Clean and Fresh

It’s the time of year when many of us suffer from allergies, sinus problems and the dreaded cold.  Keeping your home spic and span can sometimes feel like too tough a challenge. No matter how often you clean, the house seems to get dirty again before the floors have even dried, especially with kids and pets.  There are some things you can do to make things easier, and keep your family breathing easier. c foyer thumb

  • Doormats – They not only keep mud from shoes off your clean floors, but help keep dirt and other debris from entering your home.  Exterior mats, as well as interior ones, will reduce the amount of dirt greatly.
  • Ducts & Fans – Be sure to schedule regular cleaning and dusting of your ducts and fans.  They will blow dirt and pollen particles all over your house if unchecked.
  • Air Filters – Changing your air filter monthly will help you and your family breathe easier.  Some filters will also double as air fresheners, sending sweet scents throughout the house.
  • Pet Hair – There’s nothing stickier than pet hair on furniture.  Brushing your pet daily (or assigning it as a chore for the kids) will help reduce the amount of dander on your furniture as well as unsightly shed hairs.
  • Dust – If you keep up with it frequently, you can avoid the hours long weekend task.  During a commercial break of your favorite show, hop up and quickly wipe down several surfaces with a Lysol wipe.
  • Create a Home – Every item in your house should have a “home” of it’s own, a place where it belongs so it’s easy to pick up and put everything away.

These are just a few things that you can do to help your family breathe easier and turn your home into a sanctuary for family time.  For more tips and hints on caring for your home, call Helen today at 847.967.0022 or email [email protected].
